B BasisNorth

Terms of Service

Last updated: June 30, 2026
BasisNorth is a calculation tool, not tax advice. It does not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice, and its output is not a filing recommendation. Always review your results and consult a qualified Canadian tax professional before filing.

1. The service

BasisNorth ("we", "us") provides software that computes crypto capital gains from a transaction file you upload and returns a report using the Adjusted Cost Base (ACB) method, with an optional FIFO/LIFO comparison. The service performs calculations on the data you provide and does not independently verify it.

2. Not professional advice

The service is an automated calculation tool. It is not a substitute for a qualified accountant or tax professional. We do not file returns on your behalf and make no representation that any output satisfies your obligations to the Canada Revenue Agency or any other authority. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your input data, for reviewing the output, and for what you report on your return.

3. Your responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate transaction data and to use the service only for lawful purposes. You are responsible for keeping your own records and for any decisions you make based on the report.

4. Payment

Reports are sold on a per-report basis at the price shown at checkout, in Canadian dollars, processed securely by Stripe. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

5. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the output is error-free or suitable for any particular filing.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BasisNorth's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the report giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including penalties, interest, or reassessments imposed by any tax authority.

7. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
